They're back home before JC understands exactly what's been going on. He enjoys Justin hanging out with him. He prides himself on being a good buddy.
Justin's in his hotel room, sprawled out on the bed and patting the covers next to him, and JC sees the hopeful look on Justin's face. It stuns him, because he gets it. Justin's still a teenager, but he's been through enough, knows the way things work.
JC crosses the room too slowly and curls into the corner of the bed. He's cold and hot and hates himself for noticing things that he shouldn't.
