Summary: What Abberline does while he waits.

Abberline watches the flame slither up the tiny frail branch, gold and blue in its hunger. It's very hot by his fingertips, and he can almost feel the nails peeling away from the fire. He should drop the match. He should light the absinthe. That was what he'd meant to do, after all, but he had been distracted by the flickering screams within the heart of the burning match.
His skin is beginning to blister.
Someone seizes his wrist, and the match falls onto the rim of the glass before eating itself to death on the tabletop. The musician stares back at him as the other man slowly lifts a hand and ignites the absinthe with a fingersnap. And then his injured fingertip is pulled into a mouth that breaks all Abberline's bones with a single kiss.
