Arthur smiled and spoke softly, so as not to scare. “A future Cornelia, Mother of the Gracchi.”
“Better to compare her to Boudicca,” Guinevere countered. She stood on the opposite side of the cradle, hands resting lightly on the edge. The candlelight was pale in comparison to her eyes. “She’ll not rely on her sons to change the world, but do her own fighting.”
“With reason and compassion to guide her.” His voice was still soft, but something in it had hardened.
The two of them stared at each other over the baby, who quietly listened.
