Seth’s shoe crunched down on something springy and metallic. He paused, considered, and lifted his foot off the Slinky. Then he carefully edged around the sofa, following the overstretched coils.
Miguel sauntered into the room just in time to see Seth stumble away, one arm thrown over his eyes. “What’s wrong?”
“What’s wrong? What’s wrong? I used to love those things as a kid! Now—” Seth trailed off into a weird gargle and practically ran out.
Mort’s ruffled head popped up behind the couch, closely followed by Ahmed’s. Their shoulders were bare, so Miguel didn’t come any closer. “What’s his problem?” Rainey asked, puzzled.
Miguel scooped up the Slinky and toyed with it. He grinned and pivoted to follow Seth. “Let me go see.”
