Once upon a time, Connor comes across an identical twin being quoted as saying his brother's the other half of himself. And he stops and thinks a little on the tiny cowlick that swirls one way for him, another for Murphy, and the slight delay between the moment his match hits the cigarette and when Murphy's does. Lazy bastard, as always.
And Murphy likes to sprinkle those little red pepper flakes all over his pizza--burn his lips off some day, and then who's Connor gonna kiss? Connor can outdrink him with stout, but when it comes to whiskey, it's a sad but true fact that Murphy can stand that one extra shot.
And all those little differences turn the mirror to just plain glass window, but through that window, Connor sees his blood and heart and spirit embraced by the sun.
So no, they're not halves jigsaw-fitted back together, crippled into one being. They're themselves, and themselves are they. It's more like...symbiosis, which had come up in the next article after the one on twins. Somewhen in the womb, Connor and Murphy figured they were better off together, and they made it so.
