"You really believe in that shit?" Greenly flipped at the cross hanging round Connor's beck, making it spiral wildly in place.
A steadying hand closed around it. Connor's eyebrows were up, his expression calling Greenly the dumb one. "Yeah. Why?"
"Well, I've been knocking around this place for years and never seen Him do anything." Something gunky decided to grab at Greenly's shoe just then, and he tripped into lean warmth.
Connor set him upright, as easily as stopping a spinning crucifix. "If He did everything for us, then we'd never learn to do things for ourselves, would we?"
He had a distracting mouth, mobile and pale and Greenly had been wondering about its taste for days. Now, he decided to stop doing that and take Connor's advice. "Want to go grab a beer?"
"If you're buying, of course."
